SARA 2022 CONFERENCE

The past two years have certainly been IMPACTful for all of us due to the Covid-19 pandemic. From a conference perspective, the challenge we faced was to ensure that we were still able create a platform where we, as a fraternity, could connect, network and share, while not being able to gather in-person as we traditionally have.

The 2020 and 2021 virtual Conference and Reward Awards were a success by many measures, and we are grateful to our delegates and sponsors for the continued commitment and support for the conference during this period.

We have however sensed a growing PURPOSE from some of our colleagues to reconnect in person in the way we traditionally have. We are very pleased to announce that not only is this year SARA’s 25th Birthday, but we will be hosting a PHYSICAL Conference for our members and other key stakeholders from 3 to 4 November, followed by the Reward Awards on 5 November 2022.  For those not able to travel to the venue, we will also be offering an online version of the event.

We look forward to communicating further information soon. MAKE IT COUNT! Save the date!

We are extremely pleased and excited to announce that SARA will be hosting a physical Conference for our members and other key stakeholders from 3 to 4 November 2022.  For those not able to travel to the venue, we will also be offering an online version of the event.

The physical event will span two (2) full days of top-notch content and speakers followed by our Reward Awards Banquet on the third day of proceedings (5 November 2022).

2022 Programme context

Given that we have 2 years of the pandemic behind us, the time has come to shift the focus away from how we have reacted to the pandemic, to a longer term view in respect of future practices and strategies.

Our programme will therefore be built around the following elements:

  • Sustainability of our pay practices;
  • Fair and Responsible pay;
  • Work-life balance in a hybrid setting;
  • Our impact on business, as Reward in future;
  • Purpose-aligned Reward;
  • The changing landscape of influence of Reward in business;
  • Reward trends and challenges on the African continent; and
  • General Reward updates and trends.

SARA's role is to promote, develop and empower the reward profession in South Africa and beyond, and to ensure that Reward specialists and managers, human resources professionals and executives dealing with and responsible for Reward management, have the skills, confidence and passion for the Reward discipline to make a significant difference in the way organisations position themselves to achieve their strategic objectives. We need your input to make this a reality!

You can get involved by sharing with us your thoughts, ideas and topics in the form of conference paper proposals that could work well in the conference programme.

We’d especially like to encourage proposals that would:

  • Benefit the Reward community by sharing organisational challenges and successes;
  • Promote the interests and wellbeing of your employees and/or society;
  • Encourage Total Reward and HR thought leadership;
  • Present case studies that discuss challenges faced by Reward professionals, and associated effective solutions and alternatives; and/or
  • Enable delegates to walk away with tangible learnings and skills.

We look forward to hearing from you, so please submit your proposal by using this online form - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 12 MAY

Should you have any queries about the process, or have suggestions on speakers or topics kindly reach out to Eileen at eileen@vdw.co.za. Also remember to block out your diaries from 3 to 4 November 2022.
